Melissa, owner of Melissa’s Pet Sitting & More, has been providing pet sitting for our two dogs for over 2+ years now and I cannot say enough about the enormous amount of help we’ve received. My wife and I have relied on her for all our pet sitting needs and as an English Bulldog owner (also own Shih Tzu/ Yorkie but she is much easier), sometimes this can be a lot more than expected. No matter the situation with him, good or bad, she’s always been very attentive to his needs and found ways to go above and beyond what I’ve ever expected of anyone. Caring for others animals can be challenging when you are not around them as much as we are but it was like a family member had walked in and knew exactly what to do from the start. Given, at the beginning she showed her professionalism and passion to always be prepared on day one by having us fill out an extensive list of questions regarding each dog and I’ll have to say, she did her research and studied our feedback. “This isn’t her first rodeo!”

I moved to Denver July 2017 and I spent the first week looking for a dog walker and sitter to care for my 2 ten-year-old Cavalier King Charles spaniels, Charlie and Lucie, while I was at work. After several frustrating calls, I found Melissa’s website and contacted her. She came right over that evening to meet me and my pups. I was immediately struck by her professionalism and her rapport with my dogs. It has worked extremely well for the last 1 1/2 years. She is utterly reliable and faithful and gives me peace of mind while at work. Both dogs suffer from separation anxiety and she has helped with their transition to a new home.

One of my dogs, Charlie, has a seizure disorder and on more than one occasion Melissa has come in to find that he has had a seizure and takes the time to clean him up and cuddle and comfort him. She has even taken them to the vet when Charlie had a paw injury while I was out of town.

Melissa is a conscientious, caring, honest pet sitter. I have no hesitation recommending her if you need a reliable pet sitter. We have now used Melissa from Melissa’s Petsitting and More on two occasions to stay with our dogs. The first was over a long weekend and the latest was for a recent two week trip out of the country.

We are generally very nervous about leaving our two boys and try to take them with us whenever possible. Our experience with Melissa has finally established that we have someone we can call to house/dog sit who is trustworthy and genuinely cares for our little guys. We didn’t make the two week stay easy for Melissa either. Our house is undergoing a kitchen renovation, so she had to make do with our makeshift kitchen set up in the living room. I think most would have turned us down flat, but Melissa didn’t seem to hesitate and handled it all very well! She also established contact with some of our neighbors while we were gone and everyone really enjoyed meeting and talking to Melissa. She was very good about providing periodic updates (texts) with photos which was very reassuring! Walks and playtime seemed to be plentiful and well as just hanging out and cuddling with them. We highly recommend Melissa’s Petsitting and More for anyone who’s looking for friendly, personable and trustworthy pet sitting!

Melissa is a truly amazing petsitter and person! I feel much safer leaving Max and Dora in her care than I have with larger pet-sitting services. I can always reach her directly and she knows just what to do in an emergency. The girls look to her now as an auxiliary “Mom,” and she is really able to draw them out and get them engaged. She takes particular care to get to know each pet in detail, Dora gets the brushing and “full body massage" treatment, while Max is “play play play fun fun fun.” When I arrive home, both girls are secure and content, the plants are still alive, and the house is in great condition.

As a bonus, I love the pictures she provides with each visit, they really allow me to relax and enjoy my time away.

I have been working with Melissa Triester since we brought our puppy Blue home 6 months ago. I didn't want to leave him in the kennel all day and Melissa's pet care was the perfect solution. We had her coming twice a day at first and are now down to one visit a day as he is getting older. She has even watched him while we travel. Melissa saved our dog's life. Our Tibetan Spaniel, Peanut, was attacked by a coyote while we were out of state and Melissa very calmly notified us and took her in to our preferred vet very late in the evening and was there for a very long time. She kept in contact with the medical team and in fact went back the next morning with a gift for the staff to thank them for their care and to check on Peanut. She also cleaned up the blood in the house where the dog had gone for protection so that when we returned we weren’t faced it. She continued to check up multiple times a day until we brought Peanut home. And then daily until we were out of the woods. She greatly cares for our pets as if they were her own. She originally took care of our two cats, Cocoa and Coal, and after Coal was diagnosed with cancer, Melissa gave him his medication while we were on vacation. She not only follows instructions, but sees to things as they may arise, like taking the initiative to turn up the heat when the temperature suddenly dropped one time. She visited before her scheduled sitting to meet my dog and cat, to learn their routines, and to learn the schedules for house sitting, like trash pick-up and milk delivery. We could not have been happier with Melissa and the excellent service she provided to us as a Pet Sitter and House Sitter when we went on an out of country vacation recently. Our rescue dog has severe separation anxiety and can't be left alone for any period of time. We were referred to Melissa and we knew during the intake interview that both our dog and our cat would be in great hands, but more importantly, that Melissa sincerely cared and understood how important our pets are.

Melissa did a thorough initial interview with us on our initial "meet and greet". She wanted to know the specifics about our pets' feeding, exercising, medications, where they sleep, and most importantly, she wanted to understand how to handle the behavioral issues with our dog. We'd consulted with an animal behaviorist and had developed a positive conditioning routine to help our dog, Modi to learn to tolerate short departures, building to longer ones. She asked detailed questions about the exercises, how we did them, how often and she took detailed notes, so she could keep up their normal routine.

Because we were so concerned about leaving our dog and cat for a week, we asked Melissa if she'd check in with us while we were on vacation. Melissa called us every couple of days and put our minds at ease. Modi was getting his medication, was having a great time with Melissa and wasn't exhibiting any problem behavior issues.

We took advantage of the her airport drop-off and pick-up service and it made the trip that much better. No stress about finding parking on the way to the airport and pickup outside the airport the night we got back was priceless and well worth the small additional fee. We'd have paid more for gas and parking.

Finally, Melissa surprised us with a lovely welcome home. She had detailed reports waiting for us upon our return and things at the house were just perfect.

It was the most relaxing vacation we've ever taken and it was due, in large part to knowing that we didn't have a thing to worry about with the pets we love so much.

Melissa is a caring professional and she's given us a new peace of mind in knowing that there is a loving, professional, trustworthy person we can count on to care for our "special needs" animals when we need her.
